Ok, today is not a wine “holiday”, but another fun one: Golden Girls Day! I grew up watching this show because my grandmother loved it. And what was the one thing that solved all problems for these ladies? Cheesecake! So in honor of this day, I’ve decided to see what wines pair the best with this creamy, little slice of heaven. Thank you for being my friend, cheesecake and wine!
Plain Cheesecake
My favorite way to go! So try pairing this slice with something like a sweet Riesling or a late harvest Sauvignon Blanc. The aromas and flavors of each of these really enhance this tasty treat.
Berry or Cherry Topped Cheesecake
A sure winner is a late harvest Riesling. Other options you could try are Sauterne, Muscatel, or even something like a Cabernet Franc Ice Wine. These wines have a scent or flavor of fruits and honey that pairs great with a berry cheesecake.
Chocolate Cheesecake
Pair chocolate cheesecake with a Ruby port. This wine is has flavors of ripe red and black berry flavors and just the right amount of sweetness to pair with the chocolate.
Pumpkin Cheesecake
Try a nice Muscat with this dessert. It’s a nice balance for the pumpkin spice flavor.
Red Velvet Cheesecake
A late harvest Zinfandel pairs well with this style. This type of wine has notes of cherry and raspberries, with a hint of vanilla. A nice balance!
